3.00 GARDEN SHOP & ONLINE

3.01 HERBS
Herbs are leaves, flowers, or stems of plants that are used in cooking – these can be used fresh or dried. Herbs are a fantastic way to add flavour and colour to any sort of dish or drink, whether sweet or savoury, without adding fat, salt or sugars. In addition to flavour and colour, they each also tend to have their own set of health-promoting properties.

3.02 SPICES
A spice is a seed, fruit, root, bark, or other plant substance primarily used for flavoring or coloring food.

3.03 ESSENTIAL OILS
Essential oils are basically plant extracts. They’re made by steaming or pressing various parts of a plant (flowers, bark, leaves or fruit) to capture the compounds that produce fragrance.
It can take several pounds of a plant to produce a single bottle of essential oil. In addition to creating scent, essential oils perform other functions in plants, too.

3.04 FRAGRANCE OILS
Fragrance oils, also known as aroma oils, aromatic oils, and flavor oils, are blended synthetic aroma compounds or natural essential oils that are diluted with a carrier like propylene glycol, vegetable oil, or mineral oil.

3.05 HERBAL TEAS
– Herbal teas, also known as herbal infusions, are typically a blend of herbs, flowers, spices, and dried fruit. This blend of ingredients is then brewed in the same way as your favorite traditional tea, either loose or in tea sachets or bags.
– By combining quality ingredients, blends can be created that calm, invigorate, or treat minor ailments. Colors and flavors range from light and fruity to vibrant and spicy, to match your mood. We offer over 40 different kinds of blends, many of which are caffeine free.

3.06 HERBAL CAPSULES
Capsules are a convenient way to administer medicinal herbs and food supplements. At Herbal Apothecary we produce a wide range of herbal capsules. The capsules we use are size ‘0’, vegetable cellulose capsules. These are transparent, so the contents of the capsule are visible.

3.07 HERBAL TINCTURES
An herbal tincture is a concentrated liquid form of one or more herbs. To make a tincture, a person must soak parts of an herb for several weeks in alcohol or vinegar. The soaking process extracts the active components of the herb or herbs

3.08 HERBAL CREAMS
Herbal creams are a mixture of distilled water, carrier oils (Almond oils, for example), beeswax and essential oils. Through a series of melting, blending and folding, your cream is created. Ointments are made with a mixture of natural herb-infused oil, cocoa butter, beeswax and essential oils – there is no water.

3.09 HERBAL REMEDIES
Herbal remedies are substances that come from plants. They come in various forms, such as capsules, teas, liquid drops or skin creams. You can get them at health food shops, supermarkets, pharmacies and from herbal practitioners.

Some may be referred to as ‘supplements’. Others may be referred to as ‘medicines’, which means they aim to treat, cure or prevent a diagnosed health problem.

There are lots of different types of herbal remedies that aim to help with different health conditions or help with your wellbeing.

3.10 HERBAL BOOKS
